If you managed to rank on the first page of a search engine, it is now time to keep this ranking going by focusing in audience engagement. There are plenty of analytics website that will give you information on visits, CTR, bounce rates, etc. Now, if you are satisfied with your rankings ensure that these metrics are being handled. You want to put efforts in having a high click through rate and a low bounce rate to avoid being reviewed by search engines like Google, which will affect the ranking. A way to have the audience engaged is to invite them to click on your result in the search engine query, by having a catchy title tag and meta description. The other way to keep these metrics balanced is to have a conversion rate optimization strategy.
Finally, with different updates there are different factors to pay attention to. However, it is important to go back to the basics when optimizing your website, to remember that there are other websites that receive a large number of search queries, and to analyze data to find out what is working and come up with strategies to fix what is not performing.
